Thanks for you comments. Why I am pondering the phrase, I'm told I expect things to be black and white in a world full of gray areas. Excuse me for being a geek, but without standards and baselines to follow, you end up with “close enough for government work” going from meaning almost great to not worth the time or effort of doing better.
